Athletics

The Athletic Department focuses on building healthy bodies and minds. We strive to ensure that students participate in an appropriate amount of physical activity. In addition, we hope to build a lifelong love of sports and athletics and instill the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, fair play and dedication.

By encouraging our students to embrace an active life-style and exemplify those values, we believe that our students will grow and mature in body, mind and character.

There may be people that have more talent than you, but there is no excuse for anyone to work harder than you.

Varsity Sports Teams

At The Hudson School, any upper school student may participate in four years of varsity-level sports for three seasons each year: fall, winter and spring. Our sports and activities are open to anyone who wishes to participate, regardless of skill or previous experience.

Soccer

We offer Upper School Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer. Each team plays approximately twelve games over the course of the fall season ranging from September to early November. We primarily compete against other small independent and private schools. The teams will practice multiple times each week subject to game schedules.

Basketball

We offer Upper School Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball. Each team plays approximately twelve games over the course of the winter season ranging from December through February. We primarily compete against other small independent and private schools. The teams will practice once or twice a week subject to game schedules.

Track and Field

We offer Upper School Boys and Girls Track and Field. We attend approximately eight meets over the course of the spring season ranging from March to May. We compete against all public and independent schools that choose to participate in the meets we attend. However, our primary goal is to improve our performance from previous practices and meets. Athletes are permitted to choose events in which to compete. No athlete will ever be forced to participate unwillingly in any event. The team will practice approximately three times a week subject to meet schedule.
