Parents’ Association Update 11-1-17: Haunted Hudson Thanks and Upcoming Events

We hope the sugar rush from Halloween has subsided and that everyone had a great Halloween! A few friendly reminders for this week follow below. For your convenience, all fliers are attached for details.

Thank-you to all the Students, Parents and Faculty who volunteered with Haunted Hudson this past Friday.  Bailey Kasden (Upper school student) did an amazing job with the Halloween Karaoke session where the theater was packed at all times with kids and parents watching our amazing singers, the backyard looked especially haunted and our team of decorators led by Kim Woolfer, Chris Baker, and Jahna Balk did an outstanding job.  The food donated was super yummy, and we had great games and experiences that were enjoyed by all who attended.   We simply could not have pulled off such a great event without the community support.  Our kids were amazed and all had a great time. The minutes from our last meeting were sent out today, and at that meeting we decided we would not have the next PA meeting until January given the holidays are quickly approaching and we know it can be a stressful time for families.  We will continue to provide weekly updates so you are informed.  We will need to plan a few events online that are upcoming, so you may get a few Signupgenius links in the next few weeks for the Teacher Holiday Luncheon where we’ll need food and bevvie donations as well as post Thanksgiving we’ll need to start planning the Middle School Glow Themed Dance (Feb 2nd) in our school gym. Much of the planning will have to be done online and through email, but that has worked well thus far with the Welcome breakfast and the Haunted Hudson so we are confident this will go well too!

Ordering pie from the 12th grade Griggstown Farms fundraiser will get you the most amazing pies to savor at Thanksgiving or to slip into the freezer for some mid-winter cheer later on, AND around 50% of the money for each pie is donated back to The Hudson School. If a pie is not for you, you can also order a pie to donate to the Hoboken Shelter’s Thanksgiving meal.  If you have questions, reach out to 12th grade Class parent Tom Lee, TOMMYLEE6464@GMAIL.COM OR Jahna Balk, JBALK@THEHUDSONSCHOOL.ORG.  Pies must be ordered by 11/9. 11/9 Panera Night-4-8 PM-20% of proceeds from event will be donated back to our school-MUST PRESENT FLIER AT REGISTER. You can bring a printed copy or download and have on your phone. Invite your friends & family as well by passing around the attached flier on facebook and other social channels. Maybe your kids even want to go there after school at 4 pm for an after-school smoothie with their friends? Better yet let’s have dinner together as a community and give back to our school! 

  • November month-long: Holiday Cards-15% of proceeds donated back to school, 15% off with promo code (FUNDRAISEHUDSON) that will be provided (flier attached) Get your holiday cards done early and also support your school! 
  • 12/2-12/9 Little City Books (Hoboken)- 20% Of proceeds donated back to school. Flier will be sent as we get closer to the event.
  • December 5th, 6-8 pm Wine and cheese event at Little City Books for Parents to do some Holiday shopping–This will be a fun way to get together, we hope many parents can attend and get some holiday shopping done at the same time!
  • Online shopping available throughout the week for those that cannot attend the 12/5 event.  Will send shopping link with flier as we get closer.


12/13 Chipotle Night- 4-8 PM-50% Of proceeds donated back to school (flier will be distributed as we get closer)

Hoboken Public Library is so close to our school and such an amazing resource to our families in Hoboken.  They had an ad in the paper this week that we wanted to make sure parents saw in the event your student is interested in any of the activities they have planned. In addition, we’ve attached a flier they sent the PA outlining all of their resources available in case your family is interested.  See images attached and their Library toolkit. We may be partnering with them on some future events, once we have those planned we will inform everyone.<

The Box tops Box is in the front lobby, so if you have Box tops to contribute, simply drop them in the box and we’ll submit them to earn money back for our school.

Visit to do all of your Amazon shopping and select The Hudson School as your school of choice to donate back to.The school has already earned over $500+ dollars already just through all of us shopping as we already do on Amazon.
