Exchange & Language Programs

We try to provide an opportunity for students to put their world language to use by organizing regular international trips with a language and cultural focus. These trips usually happen during February or Spring breaks.

2025 Spring Break: Madrid and Andalusia, Spain

2024 Spring Break: Japan

2024: Mid-Winter Break: Quebec, Canada

World language teachers organize immersion programs during the first weeks of summer. In 2018 students visited Madrid, Spain. THS has participated in exchange programs with students from France and Spain. We had an exchange with a secondary school in Madrid for spring break 2023. We hosted French students in the fall of 2023.

Upper School Exclusive Trips

THS Around the World is a travel program exclusively for upper school students. These trips are designed to expose students to new cultures and countries. The inaugural trip in 2017 went to Iceland. In 2019 we visited South Africa. In 2023, we explored Costa Rica and Panama. In 2026, we're heading to Thailand!

International Service Trips

Students have the opportunity to visit countries on locally sensitive service trips. In 2018, students visited Cuba during spring break with Global Volunteers. All service programs are carefully vetted to make sure that they are not harming local businesses or participating in volunteer tourism.

Curricular events explore specific subjects and are often school-wide. Upper school students participate in the following events throughout the year:

  • ASL Cafe
  • STEM Day
  • History Day
  • Beyond the Book Day
  • Senior Projects
  • TED Talks
  • National Latin Exam

In addition to student-led clubs, upper school students participate in the following extracurricular activities:

  • All-School Musical
  • Upper School Play
  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Track & Field
  • Select Chorus
  • Jazz Band
  • Mock Trial

At THS, we believe that upper school students have the leadership capabilities to support their own programs. The following programs are run by students with teacher advisement:

  • Diversity Conference
  • Clubs
  • Between the Lines (student-produced concert)

THS upper school students benefit from expert college counseling. Our College Counselor is Brion Morro. To prepare for the college process, students have the following classes and opportunities:

  • Individualized College Plan
